Message from the
Pastor:
Hello everyone. This is
Jimmy Peyton at Lawrenceburg Cumberland Presbyterian
Church. I wanted to touch base about our upcoming historical service on
Saturday, February 4th at 6:00 p.m. We are celebrating our church's history
with an 1860's style worship service. Many of our people will be wearing period
attire. The service will be set up like one would have been then and include
songs appropriate for the time. I promise, the songs will be familiar to you.
I'm going to be preaching a sermon from the time period. We'll have
refreshments following the service. Our sanctuary was erected in 1851 and the
Cumberland Presbyterian congregation was formed here in 1866. The service is a
celebration of our particular heritage and also the history of Lawrence county.
For all of you who are Cumberland Presbyterians, you know that this coincides
with our denomination's anniversary. The Cumberland Presbyterian Church was
founded on February 4th, 1810. So there is an additional reason to worship on
this day. I've served in other Presbyteries where they make a point of holding
a denomination day worship service. Hopefully, many in Columbia Presbytery will
join us on this night for worship. I'm including a flier for the service in
hopes that you will print it and post it in your church. We pray that many
people will come together for this to worship God. If you have any questions
about the service, please call me at (931) 279-2487. I'll be sending out
reminders leading up to the service. Thank you. Have a blessed day.
In His Love, Jimmy
